The Girls Soccer Team, “The Coptic Flames,” was first established in the year 2002. Unfortunately, due to the lack of interest and attendance of team members, it was closed after only playing one match against the Ethiopian girls, with the Coptic Flames having a successful win of 2-1. 4 Years later, The Coptic Flames were re-established in September. Their coaches were Maged and Mark Ibrahim with the co-ordinator being Nermine Malak. On September the 29th, a group of girl soccer players from Abu Sefein and Anba Abraham Coptic Orthodox church came to play the Coptic Flames as part of the ICCA (Interstate Coptic Churches Cup.) The two teams played at the Marden Sports Complex and played one match. The score was 2-1, with the Coptic Flames getting their goal scored by attacker Cheryl Georgy. All together it was a great day and everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously. In late December, Adelaide plans to send their soccer players to Sydney, to take part in another Soccer Competition. We wish them all the best and hope they have a great time. |
